Vague recollections from someone who played this piece about a hundred
years ago -- first in junior high youth orchestra, then as a college
student in the wind ensemble version....
Trilling b to d above the staff might be done by using the overblown open
g fingering for the d; give it a try. As far as those jumpy arpeggios, I
seem to recall changing the articulation to slur 2 - tongue 2 (once it
became impossible to keep up with the tempo!)
It's hard to remember without seeing the music, but give these a try!
