The silver plating is a nice option but I don't know that it is super
necessary. It does add a nice look to the instrament and feel to the
keys. I'm shouldn't bring this up but a professor I know had his keys and
posts sent in to be gold plated over his silver plate and then the clarinet
played different afterwords. Super mesures were taken so every post would
be put back in the same spot and the whole mechanism was the same after
as before and this led to the belief that possibly not only could the
material of the clarinet make a difference in the sound but the plating
could make a difference. I'm not sure I believe any of it but it is
something to throw out there.
PLEASE - WE JUST HAD THE MATERIAL WAR - I'M NOT TRYING TO START IT AGAIN SO
SOON.
