All this talk about how a piece should be played.....

The clarinet we are playing on is not the same one that Mozart's
Clarinetist (was it Leister?) played on or maybe even Brahms'
Clarinetist (Muhlfeld) played on. So here we are playing on a 'new
and improved' clarinet and arguing over what the original 'desired'
sound was. If you really wanted to get the original sound get the
original clarinet. Besides , in Mozart's case, why not listen to the
other concertos he wrote for an idea of how, etc............

I would bet that if Mozart were alive today he would be writing more
clarinet pieces. Making use of the improvements on the instrument.
Then again 'we' would still argue over it...................*sigh*

My take on all this???? "Yadda Yadda Yadda................"- Jerry
Seinfeld.

my 2 cents.
