Flaming is the tediously common practice of shouting someone down
(electronically) because he believes something, or expresses opinions,
that the flamer doesn't believe or agree with.

I have to say I was a trifle bewildered by the response to my little
aside about other people not liking de Peyer. But to suggest in the
same thread that a liking for Kell was flameworthy seemed to me beyond
the call of duty. (Hey, I like Kell too...)

De Peyer played in Cambridge a few weeks back, but I didn't get to see
him (some nights the arthritis is just too bad). A friend (a retired
person who took up the clarinet a couple of years ago) did go, and
wasn't terribly pleased. I, nevertheless, will always treasure the
memory of Gervase's LP of K.622 conducted by Peter Maag (it was
originally issued here with Tuckwell doing 2 Horn Ccti on the other
side).

I expect I'll dig the discs I have of him out tonight (Mozart, Weber,
Brahms) and see if I can detect things my taste has gone away from...
