Please forgive the blatant plug - at long last (three years after the
actual recording was made) my recording of Allan Blank's "Concerto for
Clarinet and String Orchestra" is now available from MMC Recordings. The
catalogue number is MMC 2053.

Allan Blank has a long history of writing for the clarinet. He wrote this
concerto for me for performances in 1994 with the Richmond Symphony. It
is in four movements, about 20 minutes long, and integrates the soloist
and the strings in a real collaboration - more than solo and
accompaniment.

Among Allan's other clarinet works are a Quintet for Clarinet and String
Quartet (commissioned by me) and two solo clarinet works, "Diversions"
(Associated) and "Two Pieces for Solo Clarinet" (ACA), Bicinium III for
clarinet and bass clarinet (available in a recording by David Smeyers and
Beate Zelinsky), Bicinium IV for flute and clarinet (Roncorp), "Three
One-Noters" for two clarinets (pub. Dorn), and many others. You can check

I hope you'll be interested to hear this recording, not because it will
make me rich (it won't!), but because Allan has written a lot of really
good clarinet music, which deserves wider recognition and more
