Reed Cases

Over the years I've accumulated all kinds of reed cases. I can only
relate now what I used in the Toronto Symphony.
There were some chaps who smoked a cigarillo made in Holland.
The name was SCHIMMELPENNINCK.
They came in a thin tin box. The size was about 3 1/2 by 3 1/4. It was
3/8 thin.
When they finished smoking their cigarillos, I got the boxes. I lined
the bottom with ordinary Kleenex.
On the inside of the top, I glued some styrofoam to prevent the reeds
flopping about.
These boxes were thin, light and cost nothing (of course you have to
have someone who smokes these kind of things.)
There was no glass, no anything. Just plain Kleenex. The reeds had
air from all sides.
The reason I'm telling all this is to say: find some simple thin box and
make your own reed case.

Avrahm Galper.
