Well, as for clarinet reeds, I still soak and seal them, but I find that I
don't have to take so long doing it, since they seal faster than the bass
reeds. Also, I'm very careful with the sanding. Generally (at least here
in Las Cruces where it's dry, I don't know about muggy ol' Dallas),
smaller reeds don't come as warped as larger ones; in fact, I rarely have
to sand my Bb reeds at all. I dunno, maybe you're sanding too much...or
maybe you just practice so much that the reeds can't take your kind of
work! ^_^
