This reminds me of part of a news story I heard on National Public Radio
last night.

A scientist somewhere in the United States has figured out a new way to
produce a very loud sound in a confined space. Apparently he has overcome
some of the limitations that prevented sounds from exceeding a certain
volume.

If you were exposed to it, it would destroy your hearing, possibly kill
you.

The scientist has never listened to it, but he said that if you did, he
believes it would sound like a trumpet. It figures!
