Wow is a slower variation in speed, caused by out-of round capstans and
pulleys in the tape recorder mechanism. It produces the slow "wowowowow"
sound in what should be a steady tone. Flutter is a high-speed variation.
The two distortions are combined in tape deck specifications and
measurements. T-120 tapes create extra drag from the larger, heavier tape
packs in the cassette, increasing wow and flutter.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
