I don't believe anyone in this discussion has suggested any "superiority"
of band over orchestra. But we do feel that band can hold its own.
Methinks you doth protest too much. We are not attacking orchestra music,
only defending against YOUR attack on BAND music.

I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoy orchestra, band, big band jazz,
dixieland, organ (classical and theater), ragtime, etc. Whether the music
is "great" or not I do not feel qualified to say. But as they say, I know
what I like.
