This past weekend I had the opportunity to actually attend a performance
of the Arizona Opera's production of Otello in Phoenix (not just listen
and steal glances from the pit!) I was really most impressed -- I was
told that it was an excellent production (I saw the better of the two
casts) but I've never experienced opera fully from the audience
perspective. What a revelation! I share your new-found enthusiasm!

(Aside: it's wonderful to have a new boyfriend who is head
carpenter/backstage tech. director and has connections to get me an eighth
row seat comp ticket which sells for $56! On the other hand, it was kind
of a strange date...) ;+)
