Yes I realize that there's that as well. They only do five operas per year
however. These performances run for three weeks at a clip (whihc is a good
thing) and so going to see varied and different things becomes rather
difficult. They're very spaced out, which makes anything of a consistent
nature hard to find in Detroit.

I too saw the Detroit production of "Die Zauberflote" and was thrilled with it.
I wish they had sung it in German, but it was very well done in English all
the same.
