The other side of this equation is that people enjoy listening to
community bands. We play to audiences sometimes less than half the
size of the band, but sometimes to as many as 500 people. The
audience ebbs and flows at the "Iowa Municipal Band Festival", but
they aren't all relatives, they came to hear the bands, and some
hard core will sit there from 11AM until 7PM to hear every single
one. When its cold and rainy on a regular weekly concert day and
there are 200 people sitting wrapped in blankets waiting for the show
you must be giving them something they enjoy.
