Mark Charette lamented:

That happened in Los Angeles some years ago. KFAC, on the air for 50+
years, finally went belly up. They were bought by the Heifetz heirs,
who ran it into the ground. It became a hard rock station, and also
soon went belly up (justice?). Fortunately we have KUSC (from the
University of Southern Californa), and KKGO, a former jazz station.
Both are 100% classical, but are plagued by (1) incessant ads on KKGO,
and (2) incessant pledge drives on KUSC. It's the price we must pay, I
guess.

What price culture?
