I can do even better than that, as I have played on many different wooden
clarinets, and they all sounded different. Also, I have played on many
different plastic clarinets, and they all sounded different. I also own 2
metal clarinets and have played on several others, and they all sound
different.

Sometimes the range of different sounds within each type is so great that
a listener who couldn't see which type was being played couldn't tell what
the material of the instrument was.
