No offense, but I don't read Ed's remarks as supportive of what you said.
I thought you were aghast at the idea of a band accompanying a solo
clarinetist on the Weber Concerto No. 1, and then you stated that you just
don't like the sound of a band/wind ensemle. I felt Ed was stating that
having a preference is not the same as looking down upon a medium. Your
words implied that you are looking down upon the band medium (at least to
several of us!), and Ed's didn't seem to say that at all.
