Your understanding is not accurate. I attended UM for seven years.
It also receiveds state funds and is regulated by Michigan's "powers that
be." I take time to point this out so that other people on the list do
not get the wrong information regarding this university. UM is simply a
state funded school that developed a very high caliber music degree
program.
