No flaming! You are correct in that the mouthpiece does make more of a
difference than the instrument. However, the mouthpiece can only do so
much, and it's at that point that the better the instrument, the better
the tone overall sound, etc.

As far as age, except for stiff joints and limited dexterity, it's a
state of mind. So...good luck and enjoy.
