Dirk--

I currently play on a set of Buffet RC Prestige clarinets that I
purchased in 1985. First, so much about that 1o-12 year and in the
closet routine for old clarinets!! These instruments are still going
strong after 12 years--and no cracks!

The tone is warm, dark, etc.--more fundamental than overtones imho. The
A can be stuffy if not played often. If out of tune, both instruments
do vibrate differently than when in tune, so pitch can literally be felt
as well as heard. That may just what I perceive, but to me, it is real.

Overall, these are great instruments, and I would not switch except
perhaps to Wurlitzer reform Boehms.
