No....you have not misunderstood......I still believe that there is a
sound characteristic (tone characteristic) that is unique to a top line
brand.....of course, each brand has it's own bore size, taper etc. that
helps define that unique sound. Some people do not believe there is a
difference between brands......I was only speaking as one who does believe
so in an effort to help the poster with the question regarding mixed or
matched sets.
