Martin,
If the rest of the reed is _DRY_ then you will definitely have
problems with the articulation. If the reed is completely wet and just has
extra moisture in that spot, there shouldn't be any problem. You didn't
comfirm that condition. You also didn't say anything in your reply about
the "fuzzy sound" I mentioned. Does your sound do that? Also, ave you
always had this condition or is it a new phenomenon. Some mouthpieces
(admittedly very few, tho I have run across one or two) just
seem to be 'water magnets' and will sound waterlogged and spitty.
If you have been playing as long as you say, yeah, you have
probably kicked the beginner too-much-saliva syndrome.
