Not good enough

The old timers at the Toronto Symphony had some fascinating stories to
tell about the people they knew in the music business.
The Toronto Symphony started as a pick up orchestra.
Back in the 20's, a lot of musicians were employed in the cinemas.
There was no sound, thus they had "live" musicians supplying music.
Someone got the idea of getting musicians together for the purpose of
playing "good music". The concerts were afternoon concerts, since they
had to be sandwiched between the performances at the cinema

There were a lot of contractors, people who hired musicians for this or
that job.

Some contractors became quite busy and consequently, depending on the
temperament, also a bit bossy.

There was one such contractor, of a famous family of musicians, called
Roman. He had all the good jobs sewn up in the town.

One day a new job appeared. It was a trip to play a long engagement in
London, England.

The new contractor, whose name was Davidson, tried to get the best
musicians.
>From whom- of course from the Roman group.

Thus one Friday, at pay day, many of the musicians shuffled up to Roman
and said," Gee, boss, I'm sorry but I've been asked to go on this job.
I'm resigning."

The last one to go up to Roman said," Boss, I'm not going. I'm staying
with you."

"The heck you are", said Roman, "if you're not good enough for
Davidson, you're not good enough for me."
YOU'RE FIRED!

So -go be loyal
