Probably something to do with the broad frequency spectrum of clarinet
overtones and the poor quality of most non-pro mics. Other limiting factors
include the frequency response of the playback equipment (deck and speakers)
and the way the recording was made (studio, living room, garage, mic
placement, etc.). I'm sure others can add to this list.
