Hi Gary,

Yes...I remember our discussion......and agree that there are a few out
there that it is not flat.

Even with a student model mouthpiece, I have yet to try an R-13 that is
not flat or slightly so.......I'm not trying to argue with you, just that
I believe, as do many, that the R13's do in fact play flat generally on a
side Bb.......

Also....because of it's position on the short part of the horn, it may
play clearly, but it is as bright as the throat A and G......notes that we
tend to color......because it is additionally hard to get to, it is hard
to color, therefore, the suggested fingering in an earlier post is an
ideal solution to the problems described.....plus....the note voiced
properly is in tune.

thanks again for the post .......people do need to know that a few out
there experience a flat side Bb.
