I can share a similar experience. One of my best friends has always
beaten me at every thing musically, All-County, All-State, Concerto
Competitions, Drum Major Auditions you name it, but just this week the
results of who made All-State this year came in: I made it, she didn't.
I still think she is better, but the fact remains that I did beat her.

We have been keeping things friendly by just talking and realizing that
we are both mature, and that sometimes one may beat the other. It is
inevitable, so rather than worry about who beats who, we congradulate
(sp??) the winner, and move on. There's really nothing more you can do
in a situation like this that take the results and deal with them, and
hope the other person does the same. Surely she will come around
eventually, and in the meantime, just try not to take anything
personally. I know that things can get pretty heated in the clarinet
section (they do on a daily basis in my band, but I'll save that story
for another time).
