Well Roger, that happens to be your opinion and you did not answer the
person's question but basically told him that you play in tune with a 65mm
barrel and don't need a shorter one. Everyone is perfectly allowed to
state their own opinions, that is how we gather other the opinions of
others' and decide weather or not to change our own viewpoint. I love
sarcasm and humor, but don't feel that it is appropriate to cut down
another person with names or state that their beliefs are "ridiculous". It
is also not helpful to state your opinion and disagree with another without
saying why you feel one is wrong and another right! Most subjects are not
black and white... I appreciate your answer, but I would like to know the
pros and cons behind it think these could be useful for other people
shopping around! Keep in mind Lou's original question. He would not have
asked about a shorter barrel if he did not feel that it was needed!

My A came with a 66mm, even though most of them seem to come with 65mm. I
sometimes use a 63 (which can be pulled out) when the conditions require
it! I was recommended this by one of my old teachers and also know of
several other people who use 64 Bb/ 63 A setups. Lou also did not say that
he played a Buffet A and I happed to have Custom Yamaha CS A myself and use
T. Ridenour and D. HiteM41 mouthpieces. The reason that I have two
barrels for each instrument in 2-3mm difference is that I cannot afford to
buy a barrel for each size, don't see the point in buying a barrel 1mm
different, and know that I can always pull out to make the difference up,
though too large a gap is not great either. I have to wonder, what is
considered too large of a gap? Are tuning rings usefull in this case?
