Give this garbage a rest. If you wish to continue with the
cat-fight, take it off-line so the rest of us don't have to
pay to download and delete this pointless excrement. What
appears at the very bottom (below) qualifies as distinctly
immaterial to the subjects of clarinet performance, pedagogy,
and academia. And now, back to our regularly scheduled program:

A comment regarding the Leblanc/Buffet discussion:
With respect to Tom Ridenour's recent comments concerning the
comparative acoustics between Leblanc and Buffet clarinets,
I wish to say thanks, simply for offering an authoritative
opinion concerning the student model "Sonata". My student
and I play-tested the Opus, Concerto, and Sonata this
evening. To my surprise, she preferred the Sonata to the
two professional models, and not just because of the price.
This experience was, for me, akin to finding students who
sounded simply wonderful on Clark Fobes' "Debut" student
mouthpiece, despite its "student" label. My student sounded
better on Leblanc's "Sonata" student model clarinet, which
also appeared to have better tuning and more even resistance
than my own Buffet R-13 Prestige. This is not to say that
I plan on switching to Leblanc, for I'm somewhat a Buffet
loyalist after 20 years of playing, but it's clear to me
that for the unbiased student, the more "forgiving" high
quality Leblanc instrument might just be exactly what
we're looking for. We'll know for sure after the Buffet
E-12 and R-13 arrive from mail order for trial.
