I agree completely on this. I have a Leblanc that is over 40 years old and been
in my possesion for the last 30+ of those years. I do have to admit that I only
played it steadily for the first 7 years I owned it and then again for the last
7 years. It certainly is not "blown out." My older daughter was just remarking
this very evening on what a nice sound it had (silly child switched from
clarinet to oboe last year but oh well she's happy).

Of course I would like to get a Leblanc Opus but have to save my pennies until I
can afford it. However I will buy because I want it rather than saying my old
one is "blown out." Once I do upgrade my clarinet, I will probably let my
younger daughter have my current one, which will then upgrade her from an
intermediate level instrument.
