I believe the SK stood for Stubbins-Kasper--the developers. Over the
year various throat Bb mechanisms have been used--the late Bernard Walton
played on an ancient set of Schmidt-Kolbe reform Boehms which had a
throat Bb mechanism operated off the left thumb ring--all of the
reform Boehm Wurlitzers I have played have a smiliar mechanism. I
think that we do not see this as a regular feature because as Roger
Garrett so aptly put--the Bb can be tamed. So many fine players out
there get the result and do not use the extra keywork. This is just
my opinion and nothing of a factual nature. Ron Monsen
