Lorne - When you say "a smaller register vent" do you mean a smaller bore
register tube or a shorter register vent?

Does "placed higher on the tube" mean further up the clarinet?

I ask because I'm having the same problems everyone has with the R13
Prestige vent tube on A clarinet. It's tapered to the middle and then flares
out so it causes terrible undertones and choking at the top of the clarion.
Also it's too low down on the instrument so the twelfths are too wide. I am
going to have the Guy Chadash operation done on it, which has alleviated the
problem for many other players.
