There are many who disagree with the statement that bassoons do not "blow
out"....as well as if clarinets "blow out." If that is the basis for
support for the finish of a bore compared to the material used to
construct the bore.....I am not convinced that the long, boring, technical
data explains why instruments with material A makes no difference
than the instrument constructed with material B. In fact, there is no
data that literally proves the material is not actively engaged in
affecting the tone.....just data attempting to prove that material does
not vibrate sufficiently to affect the sound.....

Too limited a conclusion.
