Dirk brings up not only a valid problem but what can be an
expensive one for some users. Those users who pay fees for
access to the internet on the basis of volume of mail, wind
up paying for these trivial responses that have no information
content. And that is more than annoying.

On the other hand, one does not want to squash interest in
the list and for years we have been trying to get those who
commit this sin to change their ways. Sometimes we succeed,
other times not. I generally try to handle such people by
a kind private note asking them to amplify their comments.
Sometimes they do. Other times they don't.
