I did not attend Ricardo's recital, though I did go to school with him. I
am sure that he is always open to feedback and opinions about his
performances, but feel that there are very few people who could be truly
qualified to give it. The speed of a performance is a great observation
for those of us with our pocket metronomes, but don't we all want to find
some fault with a great talent to make ourselves feel a little bit bigger?
I only wish that I had been there to absorb the feeling that his playing
carried through the hall. Notes are of little challenge to him, which
leaves him with a lot of freedom to "say" his message. As for missed soft
tones, etc... reed players' lives depend on those stubborn chunks of wood
and how they will react from one situation or one minute to the next. No
one has control over everything!

By the way, he does endorse the Leblanc "Opus" clarinet.
