If you like your R-13, then it is the right instrument for you. I don't
want to discourage a young musician.

I do not care for the sound or playing characteristics of the R-13 so why
should I own one?

While the R-13 is a good instrument, it will not suit everyone. The main
things that the R-13 has going for it are it's publicity and widespread
availability.

Just because it is currently a popular model, doesn't mean people should go
buy it. The purchaser should research as many of the top models as they can
rather than buying by name alone.
