Greetings, klarinet members!

I completed an MM in clarinet performance at Florida State University
(Hello to any Seminoles on the list!), but have chosen a career in arts
administration. I still perform in several local orchestras, take lessons,
etc.. I am finding that in working a 40+ hour-a-week job that, more than
ever, I must really make my practice time count.

I would like some suggestions on the following: If you had (or maybe have)
only 1 hour per day to practice to maintain your present level of
performance, prepare for auditions etc., how would you divide your time? I
find that my practice sessions are tending toward the following: 25%
scales, 25% etudes, and 50% excerpts/solos. However, I have been thinking
lately that it might benefit me more in the long run to devote more
attention to scales...
