It's a really cool instrument!! It is an instrument that takes a lot of
listening, especially on throat and upper tones, to maintain intonation,
but it is definitely manageable contrary to what some non-clarinet
conductors may have you believe.
The transition for me wasn't too difficult, but I have very large hands,
so it did get a little tricky. The reed sizes are obiviously smaller,
but I use the same type and strength (3.5 Vandoren) that I do on Bb.
All and all, it is a fabulous instrument, and I think you should
definitely give it a try!
