Roger--

I studied with Dr. Reisling from July 1982 to January 1984 when I entered the
USAF music program. He is an excellent teacher, but INTENSE. If there is one
lesson that I have used consistently since studying with him, it is to listen
to everything possible. Simply put, he made clear the value of recordings,
and how one can develop a concept of sound by listening to what others do.

At the time I was at Western Ontario, there were two clarinet professors
full-time. Bob was/is one. Jerome Summers was/is the other. Given a choice
(I did not have one then), I would study with Bob any time!

Your students, and your band will be in for an intense term, but they will
certainly learn, and if they don't like it then, will certainly learn to
appreciate it at a later time.
