Actually, all clarinets have a break-in period. I read about it. But also,
a horn plays better and improves as you play on it. With the Buffets, it
took forever to settle in. But my Leblanc Concerto settled in just like
THAT. All wood instruments (violins, clarinets, oboes, etc.) improve their
tone after playing it for awhile.
I'm not sure how you "break-in" a car, or what you mean by that. And of
course I know about not overdoing it when playing a brand new horn. I think
everyone knows that it will crack a horn!
