Among some bassoon teachers especially, there is a theory that says "every
note has its own 'pocket of resonance.'" What this means is that for the
best sound on a given note, a slight adjustment of the oral cavity should
produce the best tone quality and/or intonation. I believe this is true
for all woodwind instruments. However, I'm not aware of anyone who
advocates trying to change the embouchure for each individual note in a
very fast passage. That would be extremely difficult if not impossible to
execute, and would look pretty funny also.
