Subj: Opus-Concerto twins?????
Date: Mon, 27 Oct 1997 00:04:05 -0500

I'm intrigued about this acustical twin idea that was reported
earlier. Heck, I can try 20 R-13s and all of them sound different. I
have yet to find a Concerto that sounds like an Opus or vice versa.
Yamaha seems to be consistant for the most part, but how can se way that
any clarinet has an acustical twin. It is like the idea of a "matched" set
of clarinets.....what does that mean? I doubt they came from the same tree
or was carved out at the same time. Best explanation I've heard was that a
tech person goes through and tries to find a Bb and an A with similar qualities.
Any positions or thoughts on this???? If I'm being an idiot....tell me but this
is an interesting topic to me.
