>Hi Dave.................maybe you should rephrase your reply so that it is
a bit clearer that it reflects your opinion.............I've been playing
clarinet (and saxophone and flute) professionally in the NY City area for
close to 40 years.....I won't bore you with the details. I also have some 30
years of experience teaching woodwinds (esp clar)
>in a studio setting as well as in the public schools.........I think(and I
stress that this is my opinion) that the Morgan clarinet mouthpiece is one
of the best clarinet mouthpieces available today...............It responds
beautifully, tunes well and is one of the very few mouthpieces I have found
that gives me the flexibility to play everything from chamber music to a
klezmer wedding without having to change setups......the point is...it
works...for me(and a lot of other players that I know)!!!!!!!! I've been
through the Kaspars, the Cedevilles, Vandorens and whatever........
Mouthpieces are a very personal thing.....there is no one mouthpiece that
works best for everybody..........If there was...we wouldn't have XXXX
number of people making mouthpieces. .to blow off a quality mouthpiece like
the Morgan with the statement that you think his sax mp is "far superior" is
not fair to Morgan or to the readers of this list......esp the less
experienced ones.... BTW...the Vandoren Blackmaster is a clarinet reed and
it works very well with the Morgan mp.....I haven't seen a Blackmaster for
saxophone.......but it may be out there...............
In case your wondering.....I have no stock in the Morgan company and I am
not a personal friend of Ralph Morgan (though I have spoken to him once or
twice)
just my $.02
