It is difficult to tell who you are addressing Amy......could you please
include partial posts with your post?

I'm glad you know a lot about teaching.

If you feel teachers should address the parents who do not care, please
provide a list of ways you feel it would be appropriate for teachers to do
that. By the way, the words, "don't care" kind of leave a lot of room for
interpretation. I don't know many parents who do not care about their
children, but I know many who are uninterested in their musical
development - as well as uneducated themselves about what music learning
is all about. If you have ideas or suggestions for how parents can become
more motivated, you should provide those as well. I hope you understand
that, regardless of your parents' occupation and all of their friends, you
do not have the personal experiences necessary to convince those who have
been in the trenches for years to buy into an opinion you may hold. That
does not mean you shouldn't have an opinion! We all hope you continue to
have strong opinions and that you alter them slightly as you gain
experience....I am just saying that your opinions may not be based on
enough information for experienced teachers to accept them as fact.

Thanks for your posting.
