Re 2): Some previous owner of my old Buffet B flat had had this done, but
I never remember to try to use it. There doesn't seem to be much
advantage, if any, over using the front cross-key.
Of course, if there is a specific problem in a commonly-played work to be
solved this way, it
might be worth it just for that.
