I also had an enounter with Revilli in a clinic honor band in the
mid-1960s. That day he was reaming the trumpet players, so we escaped. I
always wondered why people would pay to take his abuse.

On the other hand, H. Robert Reynolds (Revelli's replacement) was director
of the All Southern High School Honor Band that year, and he was terrific.

My 1st Clarinet instructor Edward Kanakal (taught newest BSO member Scott
Andrews) had the distinction of getting reamed by Revelli in All-Virginia
Band (early 60's).
Revelli was instructing the Brass, when he turned around, looked at my
teacher, and said "YOU, SHORTY.... SHUT-UP".
