The story of the piano recital in Bangkok, wherein the piano is attacked
by the recitalist, is indeed one of the most humorous stories going around
the music world. It is well worth sharing with one's friends. However,
when you do so, be advised that the story is entirely fabricated and
apochryphal. It was sent to me over 10 years ago, and I enjoyed it
thoroughly for several years before learning that no such thing ever
happened, and yet I have continued to enjoy it since. The clue to the
fact that it is fictional lies in the name of the hotel where the event is
supposed to have taken place.
