All of the music on my Web page is in the public domain, save for the three
French songs I put there on a whim. You may download them, play them,
copy them, buy billboard space for them. No permission needed. Best yet,
they're free. My clarinet music Web page address is

http://chemistry.csudh.edu/oliver/clarmusi.htm

There is another site, Laura's MIDI Heaven, which has links to around
4000 midi files. Most of them are copyrighted works, recent, popular.
She has them all categorized according to TV programs, Films, Broadway
musicals, rock and roll. I don't know where she finds the time, but I wrote
to her and told her that I'm such a chicken that I only put on the web music
by dead guys (long dead at that). I asked her if the Hollywood folks have a
contract
out on her or have otherwise harrassed her in any way. Her response was that
they seem at the present time to be going after only performance files, that
is digitized .WAV files, essentially identical to commercial CDs but that they
haven't started bothering people offering MIDI files. Many of the MIDI files
available through her page are scored for as many as 16 instruments and are
really out of this world.

I downloaded a couple hundred and listened to one after another, picking those
which would sound best with the clarinet in the melody line. Then I copied
only the melody track and put it in a file by itself, imported it into
Finale, cleaned
up the result and printed out my sheet music for my portfolio which I call
(appropriately) Olliepops, Music-1 for Bb Clarinet. I've already given a
half-dozen performances (family and friends, to be sure). But I've only
scratched
the surface. What a time to be alive!!

Anyway, Laura's MIDI Heaven address is

http://www.inlink.com/~lmbusc/midipage.htm

Happy playing!

Oliver
