When that happened, did you feel a great deal of satisfaction that you had
been able to deceive your teacher? Do you consistently use that approach
in your studies? Has this technique served you well?
Ed: My satisfaction was not in deceiving my teacher but in being able to
play a note with a good sound and without cracking. This teacher was
narrow in approach and was not open to other methods other than his own.
In my teaching, what works best for the individual student to attain a good
sound and articulation is fine with me. Anchor tongue works best for me.
If a student articulates well, we don't even discuss how it is being done.
