Tami: My situation was very similar. I first learned to anchor tongue on
saxophone and then started clarinet with a different teacher. For six
months I tried to tongue from tip to tip with horrible results. (Upper
register notes would also include the 12th below.) I changed back to
anchor without telling my teacher and he proclaimed: "Now you have it!"
The size and shape of the individual's tongue will favor what technique to
use.
