Matt, Reeds are verry touchy things, everyone has their favorite kind. It all
depends on the mouthpiece set up you have and your embouchure. I have never
used a reed knife, but I do my finetuning with a piece of sandpaper and a
piece of glass to check for warping. I find that when these two items can't
save my reed than it is time for a new reed.
