Klarinet Archive - Posting 000030.txt from 1997/10

I am primarily a saxophone player (professional), but have started playing
clarinet the
last couple of years. I was playing on a Buffet 'Master Model' (good
intermediate
horn from the 70s, I believe), but recently bought a pair (Bb & A) of old
Selmer
Centered Tone clarinets. I like the feel, the sound and the response of
these
instruments (I don't do any professional classical playing - all jazz & old
blues stuff,
BTW). It was suggested to me by my teacher that I might want to consider
checking
out mouthpieces that are made specifically for such larger bore instruments.
I've
been playing on a B-45 with Vandoren V-12 #3 reeds and a Gigliotti (plastic
inverted)
ligature - I am pretty comfortable with this setup. Any suggestions? Thanks
a lot.
